Yoga & Meditation (Ages 5-11)

Come help us bring the yoga postures alive! We’ll stretch like a dog, balance like a flamingo, breathe like a bunny, or stand strong and tall like a tree. Attendants will be able to learn and practice simple meditation skills to carry with them into their busy lives.

Patterns, Colors and Shapes (Ages 7-11)

In this class we will be looking at the abstract and the conceptual! Students will learn about artists including Kandinsky and Mondrian, exploring how they used color and shape to make extremely beautiful and very abstract works of art! We will be using many different types of media so students can learn how to manipulate and work with different materials in an abstract way.

Cardboard Construction (Ages 5-11)

Get your hard-hats and recyclables ready for this construction class!  Campers will craft blueprints for their unique designs and will have all sorts and sizes of repurposed cardboard at their disposal.  We will create a wonderland of mega cardboard creations!

Different Ways of Paint (Ages 5-8)

Did you know there are more ways to paint than just using a paintbrush? In this class we will explore all the types of way we can use paint utilizing multiple different tools. We will be creating works of art using paint and various techniques including: splatter painting, finger painting, blow paint and painting with sticks! We will also, of course be working with brushes and more traditional painting techniques as well. It will be a fantastic way of using paint in ways that aren’t necessarily common and offer a fun way of learning technique, color and design.

Young Engineering (Ages 7-11)

Campers will have A LOT OF FUN learning creative building skills and to follow basic plans as they are introduced to basic Math and Engineering concepts using building toys such as Lego, other Bricks, Knex, Circuit Sets, Gear Sets and more.  They will learn to drive a remote control motorized car and learn what Engineering concepts were applied to make this vehicle function (e.g., round wheels, motors, gears, batteries, remote control, etc.  This Class will help them to develop their critical thinking skills and problem solving skills; and they will have FUN and a great learning experience.

Tennis (Ages 5-11)

Come serve it up with TGA Premier Tennis at Children’s Art Institute. TGA (Teach-Grow-Achieve) has partnered with the United States Tennis Association to create a fun and innovative tennis program for your 5-11 year old camper. TGA’s curriculum includes games, drills and fitness activities that improve motor skills, agility, hand-eye coordination and over all tennis skills. STEM experiments are also part of the fun! The award winning certified TGA coaching team brings the court to the playground and provides all of the equipment. Our goal is to not only develop our campers’ tennis skills, but to give children the building blocks for future achievement on and off the court!

Slimy Fun! (Ages 5-11)

Join us for some oozy-gooey Fun! Come and become an expert on slime! We’ll learn the secrets behind making the perfect slime. We will be making slime batches like glitter slime or fluffy slime, galaxy slime and much more. Kids will go home with the recipes of the slimes that they made in class so they can make it again any time that they want.

Hip Hop 1 (Ages 5-8)

Get ready to party! This class is a high energy introduction to hip hop dance. Students will learn basic hip hop steps and skills set to the coolest (kid-friendly) songs on the radio! We will learn choreography and showcase a spectacular routine at Open House. No dance experience required! Come join the fun!

Art Mania (Ages 5-11)

Get ready to get messy! Discover new techniques and new ways to be creative in this mixed media art class. Dabble in watercolor, pastels, collage, sculpture, printmaking and more! Each unique class will focus on a new medium and theme. Students will learn a technique and apply it to an awesome in-class project. Great for all ages and skill levels. We provide all materials.

Pyramids and Pom Poms! (Ages 5-11)

Go Team, Go! It's time to get revved up for cheer camp! Students will learn fun sideline chants, stunts, basic tumbling, and a choreographed routine. No experience needed, but a great attitude is required! Goooooo team CAI!

Stop Motion Animation (Ages 5-11)

Students will create short stop motion animated films using their choice of clay, paper, drawing, and still photography.  At the end of the course, all the work will be presented to each student on a flash drive for them to keep!

Houdini's Magic Summer (Ages 5-11)

Calling all Magicians, Illusionists, Wizards, and Merlins…Summer is coming and that much is certain. Do you not know magic? Perhaps just a little? Then allow us to blow your minds and teach you our riddles. Our magicians will perform, teach tricks and dexterity. We will play wizarding games, develop confidence, and defy regularity. Take home tricks and talents to show off to your friends. They may even call you Houdini because of your mind bends. So, go sign up, there are so many minds to dazzle. Maybe you will be next to perform at Magic Castle!

Comic Book Creators (Ages 5-11)

Create a real comic book!  This Summer, discover your inner Superhero. In this awesome comic book class, you’ll be the star of your own story. Whether you defeat a bully or travel to Mars, the story you create will be all about you. Through sketching, creating self-portraits, & developing backgrounds, you’ll transform yourself and your everyday surroundings into an amazing comic book. Our instructor will guide our illustrators as they Brainstorm, Storyboard, Pencil, Ink, and Color. After the summer session is over, the comic booklets are taken back to our studio and professionally edited and put together!  When complete, the comic books will be delivered to the students and are theirs to keep.  Class is for boys and girls. No art experience necessary.

Advanced Tennis (Ages 7-11)

Join the TGA/USTA youth tennis progression pathway! Campers ages 7-11 who have previously participated in a TGA Tennis class or have some tennis rallying experience are encouraged to join the fun and work towards Orange and Green Ball USTA Junior Team Tennis recreational competition. Our award winning certified coaches will guide campers along the way and keep parents informed about team play opportunities.

Soccer (Ages 7-11)

Team games, relays, and drills are the perfect addition to our camp program.  Kids will participate in a variety of activities related to your child's favorite sport.

Science Busters (Ages 5-11)

Ever heard of a skewer being driven through a balloon without popping said balloon? Or creating a cloud inside a bottle? Or how about igniting a piece of cotton using only the pressure around it? This summer we are bringing out the lab coats and safety goggles to put these and many other eye catching experiments to the test! Through unique experiments and dazzling demonstrations children will learn how to explore, question, and test the theories and enjoy the outcome! This summer, we are busting science!

TumbleKidz (Ages 5-7)

Want to learn how to do a handstand? Bend over backward in a bridge?  Students in TumbKidz will get to learn a wide array of tumbling tricks while becoming more flexible and confident along the way. Each class will begin with a warm-up including split, back, and wrist stretches, and will focus on a certain skill set so that students can learn at their own pace. Let's have some fun!

CAI Escape (Ages 6-11)

Do you like puzzles? How about working as a team to solve mysteries and master riddles to see if you have what it takes to beat the clock?!  Inspired by the popular Escape Room concept, CAI ESCAPE is an interactive and team building class, focused on getting kids moving, thinking outside the box and working together! Each day a new story/challenge will be presented. Go undercover to expose a heist operation, see if you can unlock the mysteries of time travel, or escape the hull of a sinking pirate ship. In CAI ESCAPE, students will learn how to work together using logic and wit, to race the clock in order to solve whatever challenge or mystery the day might bring. Join us in learning the importance of flavors, nutrition, preparation and the presentation of all sorts of different tasty creations. Every day we will create a new recipe, exploring not only how to make it, but the importance of every ingredient and the steps to produce a great dish. From math to science, geography to culture, we will explore all the richness that comes with what has brought people together since the beginning of time — Great food!

Jewelry Making with Bayley (Ages 5-8)

It’s time to bead and thread! In jewelry making we will not only be making adornments for ourselves, but other creative ways to utilize beads, jewels and other interesting materials. As we create our own pieces, we will learn about different jewelry-making techniques and styles from across the world. Each day there will be one to two projects the students will create, with the ability to do more if time permits. It will be an exciting and fun way to express ourselves using jewelry and beading!

Basketball (Ages 5-11)

Improve your skills and confidence in this fast-paced and exciting basketball class! Dribbling, passing, footwork, ball handling, shooting, and other fundamental basketball skills will be taught in this class for students of all skill levels. Build endurance, develop coordination, and have some fun! Players will play a game each week, in addition to working on skills and drills in a fun and friendly environment.

Mixed Media and POP! Art (Ages 7-11)

Exploring iconic pop artists including Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, students will not only learn about these artists but create their own works inspired by them. We will be using mixed media ranging from paint to pencil while learning about why these new styles were important to the time. It will be a bold, colorful and very exciting exploration into all things POP!

Collage (Ages 5-11)

By using one of the foundation art activities for childhood, will be creating collages by assembling different materials using our imagination, pictures, animals, shapes, words and sometimes the work of a specific artist as an inspiration.

Acrobonanza! (Ages 7-11)

Ever wanted to be in the circus? In Acrobonanza, students will work on basic acrobatics, from dive rolls over partners and walking on hands, to building a human pyramid and balancing upside down on stools! Come one, come all, but don't forget to pack your bravery as we embark on a fun-filled acro-adventure that will make you flip! (Beginning-advanced gymnastics levels welcome!)

Alternative Process Photography (Ages 5-11)

This class will use historical and non-traditional photographic printing processes. The processes being practiced were created over 100 years ago, and mostly fueled by nature and the sun. The works will be inspired by 1800s scientist/photographer Sir John Herschel. The processes that will be practiced are Cyanotypes, Sun Prints, and, Anthotypes.

DJ, Turn it up! This class provides a high-energy environment for students to learn intermediate hip hop steps and combinations, including simple breakdancing, freestyling, and prop-use. This fun class is set to music that is appropriate and hip and will culminate in a fierce routine sure to wow the crowd.

In this intro class, we'll have fun learning basic hand stitches. Sewing’s multitude of choices—color selection, fabric options, design and proportion to help kids stimulate their creative thinking skills. Completing a project fosters a sense of accomplishment. Hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills develop through the use of the hands, and exercises in following directions along with problem solving skills are all added benefits of sewing experiences for children.

Creation Station (Ages 5-11)

Let's get creative! Kids will take would-be trash items and transform them into functional goods that can be used time and time again, all while learning how to shrink their environmental footprint. Coffee cans to flower pots! Old t-shirts to pillow cases! Fabric scraps to hair accessories! The options are endless! Come have a blast creating unique and personal items that also help "green up" our world.

Create a Play (Ages 5-7)

As a group students will come up with the plot and characters for an original, very short play. Together they will rehearse, paint backdrops and build props for their original creation.  They will share their very short play at the Open House.

Break-Dancing with Katy (Ages 5-11)

B-boys and B-girls have to start somewhere! In this class, students will learn the basics of break dancing, locking, and choreography. Hip hop freezes, spins, and funky leg work are just a few of the exercises students will work on as they prepare a fascinating breaking finale that will be anything but bad.

Linoleum Block Printing (Ages 5-11)

Based on the traditional form of woodblock printing, students will use a soft linoleum block (similar to a big rubber stamp) to create beautiful relief prints. This form of stamp printing includes the carving of an image, inking the stamp, and then physically printing onto paper. Works will be influenced by M.C. Escher, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso.

Sewing’s multitude of choices—color selection, fabric options, design and proportion to help kids stimulate their creative thinking skills. Completing a project fosters a sense of accomplishment. Hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills develop through the use of the hands, and exercises in following directions along with problem solving skills are all added benefits of sewing experiences for children.

Mixed Media Photography (Ages 5-11)

In this class all visual arts and photography meet. Students will combine collaging photographs with painting, drawing, textiles, sewing, and more. This will also include the deconstructing and reconstruction of works to get a hands-on experience with the organic artistic process. Subject matter will explore the manipulation of portraits and self-portrait.

Dancing Through the Decade (Ages 7-11)

Let's take a trip back in time and experience a world of dance, from the 1920s to today! Students will learn to Charleston, dance with a Swing partner, and get funky to Disco and more as we journey through the decades and end up in year 2018.

Cardboard Minis (Ages 7-11)

Our cardboard favorites have shrunk!  Creators will get detailed with this minis class, designed to bring out the meticulous components of an entire tiny world.  Students generate design topics and ultimately bring their own ideas to life.

Join us for some oozy-gooey Fun! Come and become an expert on slime! We’ll learn the secrets behind making the perfect slime. We will be making slime batches like glitter slime or fluffy slime, galaxy slime and much more. Kids will go home with the recipes of the slimes that they made in class so they can make it again any time that they want.

Beginner Chess (Ages 5-11)

The old saying goes, "Chess is the game of Kings (and Queens)", and in this class we'll find out why. Chess subtly teaches children all the qualities of a noble king or queen: Perseverance, Nobility, Kindness, Benevolence, Responsibility, problem solving, confidence, sportsmanship, planning, patience, social skills, critical thinking, imagination and more. And if that weren't enough it's also super awesome fun! In this class we'll start at the beginning to discover all the different characters(pieces) of Chess and background information about who they are and where they come from. Then its onto how they move on the board and the rest of the dynamic rules of this 2000 year old Game of Kings!

Welcome to Tasting Kitchen, where we will not only learn about all sorts of different foods, ingredients and where they are from, but also how to become masters in the kitchen! And what better way to learn, than to see, work with and taste all the ingredients and recipes for yourself?! So, grab your appetite and join us for some good nutritious fun in the Tasting Kitchen!

Comic Book Creators (Ages 5-11)

Create a real comic book!  This Summer, discover your inner Superhero. In this awesome comic book class, you’ll be the star of your own story. Whether you defeat a bully or travel to Mars, the story you create will be all about you. Through sketching, creating self-portraits, & developing backgrounds, you’ll transform yourself and your everyday surroundings into an amazing comic book. Our instructor will guide our illustrators as they Brainstorm, Storyboard, Pencil, Ink, and Color. After the summer session is over, the comic booklets are taken back to our studio and professionally edited and put together!  When complete, the comic books will be delivered to the students and are theirs to keep.  Class is for boys and girls. No art experience necessary.

Inventors/Engineering with Heidi (Ages 8-11)

How can you make a race car without an engine?  What design will build the strongest tower?  This STEM-inspired class will challenge and inspire your builder to consider elements of physics, engineering, and science though open-ended projects.

Creation Station (Ages 5-11)

Let's get creative! Kids will take would-be trash items and transform them into functional goods that can be used time and time again, all while learning how to shrink their environmental footprint. Coffee cans to flower pots! Old t-shirts to pillow cases! Fabric scraps to hair accessories! The options are endless! Come have a blast creating unique and personal items that also help "green up" our world.

Chess4Everyone (Ages 5-11)

This is neither a beginner nor an advanced class; it’s both! In this course Kids To Kings welcomes students of all ages and experience levels. Players that are new to Chess will be introduced to The Game of Kings and learn everything from the names of the Chessmen all the way to special moves like Castling. For more experienced players we will go beyond the basics to explore Chess strategy, technique and style! The class will be fun and upbeat and will include gameplay, puzzles, technology, and group activities. And there will be something challenging for all involved. This is truly Chess 4 Everyone!

CAI Escape (Ages 6-11)

Do you like puzzles? How about working as a team to solve mysteries and master riddles to see if you have what it takes to beat the clock?!  Inspired by the popular Escape Room concept, CAI ESCAPE is an interactive and team building class, focused on getting kids moving, thinking outside the box and working together! Each day a new story/challenge will be presented. Go undercover to expose a heist operation, see if you can unlock the mysteries of time travel, or escape the hull of a sinking pirate ship. In CAI ESCAPE, students will learn how to work together using logic and wit, to race the clock in order to solve whatever challenge or mystery the day might bring.
