For many years, Children’s Community School’s staff has been lucky enough to receive our annual emergency preparedness training from Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Stacy Gerlich. Captain Gerlich is at the top of her field with more than 32 years of service for the City of Los Angeles where she is currently an EMS Battalion Captain.

CCS’ staff is annually trained in CPR and first aid. This year, we also engaged in extensive conversations about all kinds of disaster scenarios. We revisited our school safety policies and made sure each person knows their assigned task in case of an emergency.

The staff is grateful for the important work of Captain Gerlich who also understands the consideration our school gives to the emotional well-being of our students. She supports that mission whole-heartedly and our partnership makes CCS well prepared in case of a disaster.
