“Ubuntu speaks particularly about the fact that you can't exist as a human being in isolation. It speaks about our interconnectedness. You can't be human all by yourself, and when you have this quality - Ubuntu - you are known for your generosity. We think of ourselves far too frequently as just individuals, separated from one another, whereas you are connected and what you do affects the whole World. When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of humanity.”

-Desmond Tutu

The children who called CCS their school when they were younger are the adults who are shaping the world. Their education here has empowered them to enthusiastically accept their role as change makers, difference creators, and opportunity builders. But that education takes substantial investments of time and, yes, money.

The Community Fund is CCS' primary annual fundraiser, and its impact on our school can't be overstated. Giving is embedded in the culture of the school with an expectation of kindness to ourselves and each other. At CCS, we pride ourselves on being a small, connected community who takes care of each other to the best of our abilities.

It is because of this that our theme for the 2023-24 Community Fund campaign is Ubuntu: I Am Because We Are.

Every gift to the Community Fund impacts not just your child, grandchild, or friend- it impacts the life of every single student and employee on this campus. Like every other private school, our tuition does not cover the costs of operating our program, so we rely on donations so that we are able to continue providing a stellar environment for inquiry, a place where students find their freedom in the arts, and where they make life-long friends.

Giving to CCS is an important part of creating a strong sense of community, and we ask every CCS family to fully participate in providing financial support for the school by making a gift that is meaningful to your family.

By joining together in philanthropy, our individual gifts impact the CCS community as a whole.

Why do you give to CCS? Take a moment to visit our Padlet below to read why other donors have made CCS a priority, and then please add your own thoughts after you’ve made your donation.

Five Days, Five Thousand!

If we raise $5,000 between November 12 and November 18, then an anonymous donor will match that with their own gift of $5,000.

By reaching 50% current parent participation by midnight on Friday, November 10, we will activate a $7,000 gift from an anonymous donor.

If we secure $10,000 dollars in donations during our first week of the Community Fund campaign (ending at midnight on October 13), an anonymous donor will match these gifts 1:1. Let’s make this match a reality!

If we secure 25 donations during the week of October 15-21, an anonymous donor will donate $10,000 to the Community Fund. Let’s come together in ubuntu and participate at a level that is meaningful for your family!

Teachers and staff are the heart of our school, and supporting their learning with plentiful opportunities for professional development helps us attract and retain thoughtful employees. When a teacher is professionally fulfilled, their classroom will be a joyful place of engaged learning for their students.

We asked the children of CCS...

"What Does 'GIVING' Mean to You?"

...and here's what they had to say.

Meet our Co-Chairs: Francesca Fartaj and Matt Marsh

They are co-chairs of the Community Fund, and current CCS parents. That's right. This important endeavor is lead by volunteers- not employees- because that is how deeply committed they are to the school, and how valuable they know this work is. They also know firsthand from their children how money raised through the Community Fund makes a swift and substantial difference in their daily life at CCS.
