George Nersisyan

Program Director

 

George has worked for the Children’s Arts Institute for the last 10 years. A graduate of Cal State Northridge, George is the Program Director for Children’s Community School in which he directs the After-School and Enrichment Programs. George loves to play basketball and enjoys the outdoors with his wife.

Lindsey young

Site Director Westland Campus

 

Lindsey Young is a lead teacher at Children’s Community School. She has been at the school for 9 years. She is thrilled to be returning as a site director at the Westland campus for a third year. Her favorite parts of camp are getting to know the campers and making snow cones!

Rafe Goodwell

Site Director CCS Campus

Rafe Goodwell has an artistic mind and passion for working with children. His journey began as an Art teacher with a focus in ceramics and has been part of the Children’s Community School family for five years. Rafe has also been part of the Children’s Art institute for five years. He has been the site director at the Van Nuys campus for the last three years. On his free time, Rafe enjoys riding his bike, playing basketball, and working on his ceramics wheel. Rafe takes joy in sharing his interests with students and colleagues. On a typical summer day, Rafe can be seen playing sports like soccer, basketball, or leading an art activity with campers.

Karen Hardcastle

Director of Theatre Camp

Karen Hardcastle graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA with a B.A. in Theatre. While still in college, she developed and directed Camp Shakespeare in conjunction with the Virginia Shakespeare Festival. She went on to be the administrator and principal acting teacher for the Columbia School of Theatrical Arts in Columbia, MD. There she adapted and directed Alice in Wonderland with a cast of over fifty children. While in Los Angeles, Karen has served as a teacher, a writer, and the Education Outreach Manager for The Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum. She has written pieces that have been performed by children all over L.A. and directed and taught in a variety of schools. Karen is currently an educator at Westland School.
