What does it mean to be good at math? How can we build a more positive relationship with math? In this session, we will reflect on what math is, what it means to be good at math, and we will play games and participate in activities and routines that make math more enjoyable.
Howie Hua is a math instructor at Fresno State where he teaches math to future elementary school teachers. He is on the journey to show students that everyone is a math person. In 2019, Howie was awarded Outstanding Lecturer for Fresno State's College of Science and Math and in 2024, he was awarded Fresno State's Provost Award for Outstanding Lecturer. He has given talks to organizations in over 20 states and 4 countries and was the closing keynote speaker for NCTM's annual conference in 2024.
This event welcomes people from our entire extended community to campus—neighbors and CCS students alike—for a morning of bilingual storytelling, complimentary book shopping, and an overall celebration of reading and togetherness. Join us for our TK info session —an online, adults-only introduction to CCS’s Transitional Kindergarten program. Families will learn how our progressive, play-rich approach nurtures emerging academic skills, curiosity, and social-emotional growth while meeting the unique needs of young learners.
Our graduates matriculate to the most prestigious and diverse schools in Los Angeles, taking the strong foundation of their CCS education with them to Middle School and beyond. Recent graduates as well as those that left CCS decades ago will share about their experience at the school and how it prepared them for dynamic futures.
Join us for Meet the Teachers, an in-person forum that features the Lead Teachers of all classes. They speak about their teaching philosophies, answer questions, and share reflections on their many years of educating at CCS.
